i cant believe this is our last philosopher. It’s been so interesting to learn all this especially with a focus on Hamlet. This is amazing and i honestly need to read this 4 more times right now. I’m so sad that this class is over. (Also, Kafka is one of my faves too)

INSANE how fast it all went! Stay in touch! You have very good taste!
DeleteI think this was the perfect philosopher to end the class on.
ReplyDeleteI really appreciate his idea about not following your own rules. On a much smaller scale it's a good mindset to have since rules can be restricting & can lead to repetitive routines, kinda like what he said about habits being a bad thing to have.
I really enjoyed this class despite the craziness in the world right now. Thank you for a great semester!

THANK YOU!
DeletePater was extremely ahead of his time to be able to put these ideas forth, and to recognize the fleeting nature of existence. I wonder if in his own life he was always pushing himself to not fall into his own patterns and habits? But even if he did not, what he wrote rings true, and it was/is a dangerous idea, especially against conservatism or the (arbitrary) status quo in general. "The only constant in life is change", so you might as well embrace it!
ReplyDeleteHis life was not great I don’t think but his words are pretty shocking and amazing
