In the second video at 1:23 the movie is the dark knight, the dark knight rises is the 3rd movie and bane is the villain (the dark knight is my favorite movie and i felt the need to tell you, sorry).
ReplyDeleteAlso the scene you speak of was filmed in the lagunitas brewery in Chicago, i was there last year and took a tour i had no idea until the guy giving the tour told us.

DeleteFor David Foster Wallace i believe society especially in cities, has turned food into show for example the lobster festival he reported on, people go for the experience of being there and while seeing other events happening around people forget that they are eating animals.
ReplyDeleteFor Michael Pollan i dont think i would be reading that book while eating an expensive steak, but being from a small town i have witnessed the transition of 'from farm to table' and it is very normal for something like that to happen. The only difference i see is in smaller towns like mine they see all animals as they are animals, and they dont give dogs Christmas presents like it happens in other societies.
that rural/urban divide is interesting — you should bring that up in your Paper 4 since you have experience of both!
DeleteI think that due to the variety of options in the US people tend to eat more often without even thinking of what they're eating, but I don't agree with how in the reading it says that humans kill animals and eat it for entertainment. I don't think that applies to small island nations in the Pacific struggling from sea level rise. People from undeveloped countries can't just eat "plants" because even if they wanted to can't because majority of island nations suffer from climate change/sea level rise; because of this the soil on their land are infertile, unable to grow any sort of crops but are fully dependent on meat from pigs, sheep etc. They have very limited choices, unlike in the US there's a lot of varieties to choose from.
